About “Verdadera Carne de Buey”

The painting Verdadera Carne de Buey (true beef) represents little widespread awareness of animal cruelty. I used the neo-expressionist style and modern contemporary art style to express my vision.

The original painting symbolizes the cruelty animals destined for human consumption are raised and treated. While I should be a vegan, I am not. I am not proud of this fact, so this work is a self-critique and reflection of contributing to animal cruelty.

About the technique

What I liked most about this artwork is the multicolor dripped enamel on the left animal's head because it represents animal blood.

All my paintings use intended dripped chaotic techniques, but it especially works well in this artwork. I am proud to express my admiration for Jackson Pollock and Basquiat street style (SAMO) artworks. It's a love letter to their style.

Some Ideas

The text within this painting is '2x1,' 'the real deal,' 'promo,' and 'Verdadera carne de Buey.' It represents the promotional posters of Belgrano, Buenos Aires butchers. Belgrano is where I grew up.

A noticeable item next to the '2x1' text is a skull. The words 'the promo' has a line connecting to the 2x1 text. I believe the words 'the promo' is a summary of the painting.
