About “Hope”

About Hope

A contemporary piece of art, Hope is a painting representing a time in history. It was created during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) virus outbreak. During the silent war against faith and hope, this painting aims to inspire. At the time, most of the planet was secluded inside their home waiting for the exponential curve of invected to peak and flatten out. The disease scares us yet we are equally afraid of seclusion, loneliness, and the economy's future. I believe something positive will emerge for humanity's future. Therefore, the painting is titled Hope because my positive view of the world will never waiver.

The Details

The painting is a spacecraft drawn similar to how a child would draw it. Words in the painting such as El Final, Coronavirus Para Aprender, Virus Letal, and Virus Infame represent the coronavirus. There are repeated words too such as alarm and eat. Spanish words in the artwork, my native tongue, represent my worst fears at the moment. The sure moment is that we will get through this more united than ever.

The Material

This is a mixed media painting. Charcoal, white acrylic, black oil pastel, and red and yellow pastels are the paint portion of the painting. The mixed media incorporated in the painting are Scotch tape, papers, and recycled elements. Enamel paint and gold spray complete the painting.
