La Mirada: Curatorial Description
"La Mirada," a title that captures the essence of the penetrating gaze that dominates this canvas, is an exemplary piece that showcases the transformative artistry of Tirigall. This painting is a striking re-imagination of an earlier work, where the central figure of a diamond, once the heart of the composition, is ingeniously repurposed to form the nose of a compelling face. The eyes, etched with vivacious strokes, command attention, their stare imbuing the painting with a life of its own. A bold 'X' intersects the visage, adding a layer of complexity and perhaps hinting at the multifaceted nature of perception itself.
The canvas is a textured tapestry, brought to life with layers of aged papers, each piece treated with tea and coffee and baked to perfection to achieve an antique patina. This meticulous process, reminiscent of Tirigall's earlier work "Perturbator," gives the background a rich, tactile depth, with the invoices' pink and white hues peeking through, adding a warm, intimate contrast to the stark boldness of the overlaid imagery.
"La Mirada" extends beyond the visual impact of its deep gaze; it is a dialogue with time, texture, and transformation. It is a testament to the artist's continued exploration of materials and their metamorphosis, as mundane elements are elevated to art through the alchemy of his creative vision. This piece does not merely represent a face; it is a gateway into the soul of the street, the urban canvas, and the enduring human narrative etched within.

A Masterpiece Inside and Out
I feel I must give credit where credit’s due, and that’s to the packaging of this painting. I confess, due to my own bias, I had some worries about whether an artist could sufficiently safeguard a piece of art, but boy, was I proven wrong. Having spent many years in a key role in operations and logistics for a company, it’s perhaps inevitable that my professional bias has me zeroing in on these details… It’s funny, isn’t it? Here I am, waxing lyrical about the packaging, when the painting itself is a bona fide masterpiece. Diego, my sincerest thanks! Full marks from me – five stars.
