Gioconda 2: Curatorial Description

"Gioconda 2 Tondo" by Diego Tirigall, a striking 80 cm circular artwork, redefines the legendary Mona Lisa through a lens of playful rebellion. Crafted with mixed media—enamel, spray paint, and acrylics—it juxtaposes the mythic perfection of the original with a raw, contemporary edge. Tirigall’s reinterpretation feels like an affectionate inside joke, breaking down the pedestal of Renaissance ideals to embrace imperfection with daring charm.

This piece embodies Tirigall’s signature style: bold, unorthodox, and unapologetically informal. It invites viewers to question traditional notions of artistic grandeur while celebrating the vibrancy of modern expression.

For another perspective on his approach, explore his earlier piece, Gioconda: Mona Lisa Small Painting, where his provocative vision of iconic works continues to shine.

A Masterpiece Inside and Out

I feel I must give credit where credit’s due, and that’s to the packaging of this painting. I confess, due to my own bias, I had some worries about whether an artist could sufficiently safeguard a piece of art, but boy, was I proven wrong. Having spent many years in a key role in operations and logistics for a company, it’s perhaps inevitable that my professional bias has me zeroing in on these details… It’s funny, isn’t it? Here I am, waxing lyrical about the packaging, when the painting itself is a bona fide masterpiece. Diego, my sincerest thanks! Full marks from me – five stars.

Commissions FAQ

The Commission Experience

1. How can I commission a custom artwork?

The process is simple: you send me a message with your idea, we discuss details and references, I create an initial sketch, and once approved, I begin the artwork. When it's ready, I'll send it to you carefully packaged. You can see the detailed process in the "How It Works" section.

2. Do I need to have a clear idea of what I want?

Not necessarily. You can give me a general reference, a feeling you want to convey, colors you like, or even just a keyword. I'll take care of turning it into a unique piece within my style.

3. Can I request a replica of one of your previous works?
I don't make exact copies, but I can create a new work inspired by a previous piece, maintaining the essence but with variations that make it unique.
4. How long does the creation process take?
It depends on the size and complexity of the work. Normally, between 1 and 2 months. This can vary depending on complexity, changes, revisions, etc.
5. Do you offer international shipping?

Yes, I ship worldwide. Delivery times vary between 4 and 8 business days depending on location. The artwork is packaged with high-protection materials to ensure it arrives in perfect condition.

6. How is payment made?

Payment is made in two parts:

  • 50% when starting the commission to reserve your artwork.
  • 50% upon completion of the piece, before shipping. I accept payments through PayPal, bank transfer, and other methods based on availability.
7. Can I return an artwork if I don't like the result?

Since it is a custom artwork, returns are not accepted. However, I make sure you are satisfied at each phase of the process, allowing you to provide feedback before finalizing the piece.

8. Do you create large format works for specific spaces?

Yes, I can work in large formats for spaces such as living rooms, offices, or commercial venues. If you have a specific space in mind, we can discuss dimensions and composition.

9. Can I see progress during the process?

Yes, I will send you updates at different stages so you can see how the artwork evolves and give your opinion before the final details.

10. Do you offer framing?

For now, all artworks are shipped unframed to facilitate transport and allow you to choose the frame that best suits your space. If you need a recommendation, I can guide you on which options work best.
