About “Past Future”
The Meaning
Past Future talks about the struggle between the past and the future in every artist. The two closed fists on opposite ends of the canvas represent the yin and the yang. Standing against a beige-colored background, the artwork brought out my artistic strength.
The Material
To create the large modern art for sale, I glued papers and marker drawings. The beige-colored paint represents the other half. I love the result.
Influences
Past Future mixes street art, neo-expressionism, and art brut styles as inspiration. I relied on mixed media to create my artwork too. Personal inspirations are Jean-Michel Basquiat, Joe Bradley, and Oscar Murillo.
It may sound strange to acknowledge my influences because many artists deny having influences, and I detest it. I prefer to mention my influences as a way to pay tribute to their contribution to art. This is my way of thanking them.
