Painting's Description

Interestingly, Instagram and gluttony are in this painting together. Named "Gluttony Soup Preserves," the Instagram condensed gluttony soup uses the classic Campbell can with strong colors in red, yellow, and pink along with a gold spray painted Instagram logo gradient in the center. I believe the gold Instagram logo and the yellow spray paint on the can side add glamour to this contemporary painting. Andy Warhol's pop art influence is dominant in the artwork.

Gluttony and Instagram

This connection relates to Instagram's early days as a social network. Before Instagram became a selfie-obsessed photo destination, Instagram was the social network for food photos and image filters. The filters make the food photos appetizing. Over time, it evolved into selfies, nature, photoshoots, food, art, activism, mini videos, and other strange photographs.

My Favorite

The pop art and urban art painting have the phrase "screen time" on it, which is the same phrase in every painting in the Unhealthy Preserves collection. If you are reading this, it's because you are concerned about social media obsession taking over and getting rich at the expense of smartphone addiction. Of the ones in the series, this painting is my favorite.
